Very gradual transition to upland oak forest on margins of wetland, with sphagnum and cinnamon fern growing patchier until they disappear. Branch Mountain Hunt Club was logged in 1930's and burned to improve feral hog feed. Burned stumps evident on wetland margin.;Pitch pine swamp with stunted trees of various heights and diameters but few seedlings or saplings. Fits description of CEGL007056 but in the absence of disturbance (opening created by fire, drought, tree fall, logging) this community will likely succede to CEGL006132 red maple - black gum / Cinnamon fern / Sphagnum. Swamp lies in shallow depression between ridges, with peat . 30 cm deep in center of depression. Some standing water in center of patch. Nearest gravel road is 240 m. No trails to this wetland.
